What is FORE?
FORE is committed to uniting public awareness on the issues of renewable energy options in our area.

FORE is devoted to forging alliances in order to educate and inform fellow citizens.

FORE is supportive of projects designed to benefit local communities both environmentally and economically.

FORE created a booth for the New York Farm Progress Show back in September. Check out the pictures from the event and see the results of the wind energy survey that was taken!

Have a look at our press releases for information about about previous events and seminars!

Our next event is a tour of a wood pellet factory. Check out New England Wood Pellet to find out more about this renewable biomass energy source!

FORE’s Latest Campaign:
THE JORDANVILLE WIND FARM

Members of FORE are long-time natives of the areas in and around the proposed Jordanville wind farm, and we support the environmental protection and economic development this project will foster in our area.

Here we share with you what we have found so far, and invite you to add to our research.

Listen to what others have to say about wind power in their backyard! One family in NewYork even named the turbines!

Don't leave this important question to just a handful of people. Subscribe today and join the conversation

Everyone has concerns and not one concern should be taken lightly. However, the facts are so important to embrace instead of beliefs or misinformation.

Many of those that oppose wind energy have turned their backs to the facts and focus on the information they want to believe in, not what is true. Hear about Sue, who, once she looked into the facts, embraced her wind farm.

Encourage your neighbors to get the facts about wind energy. Let's appreciate our past and build a sustainable future here in New York!

George Mower, a local resident and supporter of the Jordanville Wind Energy Project, studies the three- dimensional relief map created by Janice Whipple B.C.E., Ph.D. The map shows the original sites for the wind turbines noting the distance of over a mile from the Russian Monastery and up on a windy plateau. Many FORE members hope that the project will remain at 136 MW.

THE IRONY: PRESERVATIONISTS AGAINST WIND ENERGY BUT FOR PRESERVING COAL FIRED POWER PLANTS

Glenwood Power Plant in Yonkers is on the Preservation League's Seven to Save. The station has two massive smoke stacks that once burned tons and tons of coal and polluted our atmosphere and waterways. The site is referred to as "An inspiring remnant of our industrial and transportation heritage" according to the Preservation League's own website. It is difficult to imagine that such a group continues to exist that fights to "protect" old coal fire power plants and fights against clean, renewable energy for the future. With this kind of regressive mentality, such a group itself must be in danger of extinction. Read more
